The Ottawa area has 4 public school systems and numerous private schools, as well as 2 different options for receive your GED or high school diploma.  In addition, Ottawa hosts a community college and a 4 year liberal arts college.

The Ottawa branch of Neosho County Community College has had double digit growth each of the last three years. NCCC offers the non-traditional student an affordable and flexible opportunity to further their education. NCCC continues to expand its nursing program and other areas in health care, including the addition of medical assistance certification and and Health Information Technology Program. NCCC is anticipating the expansion and relocation of their campus and is currently working in partnership with several entities through the Community Center Task Force towards a multi-use facility located at 23rd & Elm streets in Ottawa.

Preparing Students for the Future - with a strong focus on core academic programs, practical exploratory programs, technical preparation and co-curricular activities, Ottawa has developed an outstanding reputation for academic excellence.  All schools in the district have consistenly made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) each year as mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act and we are proud that Eisenhower Elementary was nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School in 2005.

Some of our student accomplishments include:

  • the Ottawa High School forensics squad has gone to Nationals multiple years
  • ACT scores are consistently at or above the national average
  • Ottawa FFA has become one of the most accomplished programs in the state
  • Over 40 local scholarships are given annually

  • 2006 Kansas Reading Association President
  • 2006 Kansas Elementary Prinicipal of the Year finalist
  • 2004 Kansas Superintendent of the Year
  • 2002 Outstanding Young Band Director in Kansas
